Soccer Standout Savage To Suit Up For Wildcats

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales University Men's Soccer Coach Matt Payne has announced the signing of Zachary Savage. Savage was a standout for Cox Mill High School, where he garnered All-State, All-Conference (2x), and All-Region (2x) honors. The attacking midfielder was recognized as the South Piedmont 3A Conference Player of the Year and the Independent Tribune Player of the Year his senior season. Upon graduation, he joined the Carolina Rapids Development Academy during his gap year.

The Concord, NC native is the son of Sarah and Jason Savage and plans to major in Sports, Event, and Entertainment Management.

"The campus is close to home, and my family means a lot to me, so that was a major plus," commented Savage on his selection. "Last season the team performed well, so coming into a successful program has its pressure, but that's what players thrive off of. Charlotte itself is beautiful, so being able to go to class and train in the city is unbelievable, and it brings exciting career options moving forward."

"Zack is a great example of the creativity we were looking for in this class. He is a bright young man, on and off the field. We felt that his brain and vision could be a tremendous asset for us moving forward," remarked Payne. "He's also got a knack for scoring goals, and has done so playing at an extremely high level. Couldn't be more excited to get him to campus."
