Men's Soccer Battles Bruins To 2OT Draw

Bermuda Run, NC- The JWU Men's Soccer Team took on Piedmont International University on Wednesday looking to avenge a 3-1 defeat to the Bruins earlier in the season. After regulation and two overtime periods, the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

This was the first 2OT game in JWU Charlotte Men's Soccer history that finished 0-0. The Wildcats, ranked #1 in USCAA D2, were outshot 16-4 for the game and 3-1 in shots on goal. The game marked goalkeeper Vincent Diep's third shutout on the season as the freshman from Havelock, NC came up with three vital saves.

"Today was an absolute battle. I am really proud of our defensive organization and perseverance. I feel like we're close to a breakthrough, we just need to keep getting better every day," reflected Wildcats Head Coach Matt Payne. "Coach Golding has done a great job with PIU, and both games against them this year have made us a better team."

JWU moves to 7-2-1 on the season and takes the field again on October 11th when they travel to Christendom College for a 4:30 pm kick-off.
