Wildcats Upset By Crusaders In Road Match

Front Royal, VA - The JWU Men's Soccer Team took on USCAA rival Christendom College on Friday, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Crusaders.

The Wildcats, #1 in the latest USCAA DII coaches poll, outshot CC 22-6, but the lone goal of the evening came for the Crusaders in the 16th minute of play. JWU (7-3-1) would score with three minutes remaining, but the goal was called back after the official called a handball on the Wildcats.

"Christendom deserved to win the game. We didn't play to our standard and they were extremely organized defensively, especially after the goal," commented Wildcats Head Coach Matt Payne after the defeat. "I take responsibility for the loss and not having the guys ready to play. We had an incredible week of practice going into this game and we just underestimated a quality opponent on matchday. Hopefully this serves to propel us forward."

The Wildcats' next contest is scheduled for October 16th at 7:15 PM as they host Regent University.
