Charlotte, NC - The #2 JWU Men's Soccer Team hosted #15 Warren Wilson College on Tuesday evening, defeating the visiting Owls 4-0.
The Wildcats would strike early when Chance Wiginton found Weeb Isaac streaking toward the goal. The calm finish from Isaac lifted JWU to a 1-0 lead. Barely four minutes later, Isaac would receive another ball from Wiginton, but this time Isaac would serve the ball across the face of goal for a Diaje' Hart finish. The 2-0 Wildcat lead would hold until halftime.
After multiple scoring opportunities to begin the second half, the Wildcats would extend the lead to 3-0 when Tito Villanueva got on the end of the Brandon Green delivery and tapped it past WWC goalkeeper Tristan Perryman. Chris Garcia would tack on the penalty kick in the 62nd minute to complete the final score line of 4-0.
The Wildcats (9-4-1) outshot the Owls 22 to 4. Perryman collected eight saves for Warren Wilson (3-6-2).
"The guys played well. We could have been more clinical, but we saw an improvement and saw great commitment from the team," commented JWU Head Coach Matt Payne. "I'm looking forward to Senior Day on Saturday where we can hopefully continue this momentum."
The Wildcats celebrate their seniors on Saturday, October 26th at 3:15 pm as they seek to avenge their only USCAA loss of the year to Christendom College.
