CHARLOTTE, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte Men's Soccer Coach Matt Payne announced Dylan Dellinger as the newest member of the 2020 recruiting class. Dellinger comes to JWU from Statesville, NC, where he was a standout performer for South Iredell High School. The attacking midfielder/striker notched 21 goals in his senior season en route to being named to the North Piedmont All-Conference Team and Conference Player of the Year. He was also named NCSCA All-Region 10 and All-County by Statesville Record and Landmark. Finally, the 6'1" athlete was recognized as an All-State NCSCA performer, joining Rodolfo Esparza and Carter Beck as NCSCA All-State honorees in the Wildcats' 2020 recruiting class. Dellinger played his club soccer for Premier UK and Carolina Velocity, and credits coaches Andy Thompson, Connor Dawson, and Robbie Hill as instrumental pieces in his development.
"I chose to come to Johnson & Wales because of Coach Payne and the whole soccer staff and knew this is where I was supposed to be," commented Dellinger on his collegiate choice. "Also, with a business at home, I know I can take a lot back with what I will learn at Johnson & Wales!"
Dylan is the son of Kim and Lamar Dellinger and plans to major in Marketing.
"I was coaching my ECNL club team at a tournament and Dylan popped up on our JWU recruiting radar when we lost 2-1, because he had a goal and an assist against my team! It was a good game with two great teams, and now we have seven players from that one game in our program here at Johnson & Wales," said Coach Payne. "In addition to that great sporting first impression, he has been a joy to recruit and to get to know, and we couldn't be happier to add such a quality young man to our university."
