Charlotte, NC - The JWU women's basketball team welcomed EMAC opponent Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Friday, and the hosts came away with an impressive 108-32 victory.
The story of the game was points off of turnovers, where JWU held a 51 point advantage. The #6 Wildcats also out-rebounded the Mustangs (2-5) by 20, leading to a 30 point advantage on second chance points.
Every Wildcat scored, with eight players reaching double figures. Ineesha Hankerson, Bianca Covington, and Kayla Rogers finished with 12 points each, Haven McArthur and Chase Muhammad scored 11 apiece, and Shannon Martin, Kayla Kent, and Justice Wallace had 10 each for the Wildcats. Kiara Lloyd led the Wildcats (3-3) with 7 assists. Muhammad also added 5 steals for the game.
"Our team played really well tonight. We played hard and together, especially on the defensive end," commented Interim Coach Aram Parunak. "We are still adjusting to the transition and we still have a lot of improvements to make, but this was a good win for us. The team has been working really hard and it's good to see that hard work pay off."
The Wildcats return to action on Dec. 13 as they host South Carolina Faith A&M for a 6:00 pm tip-off. The Dec. 10 game vs Carolina Christian has been postponed because of incoming inclement weather.
