Wildcats' Sharp Offense Leads To Win Over Salem

Charlotte, NC - The JWU women's basketball team hosted Salem College on Tuesday. The Wildcats' offense exploded for their third highest point total of the season, taking the game 83-66.

  • JWU never trailed, and stretched their lead to as much as 27.
  • The Wildcats led 65-59 with 6 minutes to play before closing the game on a 18-7 run.
  • The sixth ranked Wildcats shot 49% from the field and held Salem to 39%.
  • JWU carried a 10 point advantage at the free throw line.
  • The Wildcats out-rebounded Salem 38-26 and outscored the Spirits 46-26 in the paint.
  • The JWU Bench outscored the Spirits' bench, 18-2.
  • Bianca Covington was a terror on defense, earning 7 steals.
  • Four Wildcats scored double digits: Ineesha Hankerson with 21, Chase Muhammad with 17, Covington with 15, and Jada Morgan with 10.
  • JWU moves to 9-6 on the season.

Interim Head Coach Aram Parunak on the victory: "When we play together we can be pretty good. Tonight was a definite improvement over the last game. For 3 quarters I thought we played well. It's always good to play at home in front of our fans. We have another big game on Thursday and we hope to see the stands filled."
