Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales University Charlotte Athletic Director Trudi Lacey has announced Ashley Raley-Ross as the fourth head coach of the women's basketball program.
Raley-Ross is a 2010 graduate of Queens University in Charlotte where she majored in Corporate Communication and Business Marketing. The Indian Trail, NC native played basketball while at Queens, and was a starter during her senior season under Lacey. She averaged 13.3 ppg during her senior season for a team that won 18 games and advanced to the Conference Carolinas tournament final.
She comes to JWU from ŽKK Trešnjevka 2009 in Zagreb, Croatia where she has served as an assistant coach and trainer for the U17 and U15 teams. Before heading to Croatia, Raley-Ross started the girls basketball team at Carmel Christian School in Matthews, NC. In the '16-'17 season, she led the team to a 19-7 record while winning both the regular season conference title and conference tournament.
Prior to her time at Carmel, Raley-Ross was the head coach at Northside Christian School in Charlotte. There, she inherited a 1-13 team and turned the program around as her '14-'15 team finished 26-4, won the conference regular season and tournament championships, and finished as state runner-up. While in Charlotte she also was the head of Lady Team Charlotte, an elite summer travel program. In 2017, Lady Team Charlotte won championships in both the Run 4 Roses Classic and U.S. Junior Nationals. She coached current Wildcat Ineesha Hankerson as part of Lady Team Charlotte.

Lacey added, "I am pleased to have Ashley as our new women's basketball coach," commented Athletic Director Lacey. "Her caring spirit, passion, and knowledge of the game will not only help us win, but it will help us to continue developing championship people."
Raley-Ross takes over a JWU women's basketball program with a recent history of success. The '18-'19 team finished with a 19-7 record and an USCAA National tournament semifinal appearance. The '17-'18 team were the first national champion in the history of JWU Charlotte athletics, winning the USCAA D-II title, while compiling a record of 22-4.
