Charlotte, NC - JWU Women's Basketball has signed Mariana Ballard for the 2020 recruiting class. Ballard is the second 2020 signee for Wildcats Head Coach Ashley Raley-Ross.
Ballard comes to Johnson & Wales from Clover, SC where she suits up for Clover High School. Ballard's prep accomplishments include Athlete of the Month, the Gerald Brown Award, Iron Eagle Award, and All-Region 3-AAAAA. The guard also plays AAU for 1Dream.
Mariana is the daughter of Anna and Adrian Ballard and is an A/B Honor Roll student.
When asked why she chose Johnson & Wales Charlotte, Ballard replied, "I chose JWU Charlotte because the coaches, staff, and students are very welcoming and make me feel at home."
"Mariana is a terrific addition to our JWU Women's Basketball Family. She brings toughness, IQ and she can shoot the lights out," commented Raley-Ross on the signing. "Mariana's work ethic goes hand in hand with the culture we are building here at JWU. She is another Student Athlete that is going to flourish on and most importantly, off the court. We are thankful she made the decision to be a Wildcat."
