Benford Inks With JWU Women's Hoops

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales University Charlotte Women's Basketball Coach Ashley Raley-Ross announced Tamia Benford of Madison, GA has signed with the Wildcats as part of the 2020 recruiting class. Benford comes to JWU after a stellar playing career at Morgan County High School, where she was twice recognized as an First Team All-Region performer. The small forward represented Lady Empact on the AAU circuit. She was also a member of the track team at MCHS.

"I chose JWU Charlotte because I instantly connected with Coach Ashley," said Benford. "She made it feel like home already. She's a hard, dedicated coach and that's exactly what I need and want."

Tamia is the daughter of Tammie Jackson. She was an AB Honor Roll student at MCHS and plans to major in Sports, Event, Entertainment- Management.

"Tamia brings aggressiveness, leadership and work ethic to our team. She is going to continue to grow and flourish in our culture and system," commented Coach Raley-Ross. "I can not wait to begin to work with her. I am thankful that Mia has made the decision to join our Wildcat Family!"
