CHARLOTTE, NC -- Alonie Baxter is the newest member of the Johnson & Wales Charlotte Women's Basketball 2021 recruiting class as announced by Head Coach Ashley Raley-Ross. The wing from Lawton, OK graduated from MacArthur High School, where she was given the Heart & Hustle Award for her contributions to the Highlander Girls' Basketball Team. Baxter also played AAU basketball for Lawton Lightning.
"I chose JWU Charlotte because of the advanced education in baking & pastry," commented Baxter. "Also, I am excited that attending JWU allows me to have the opportunity to play basketball."
Alonie is the daughter of Rhonda Johnson and was a recipient of the Renaissance Award in high school in recognition of her achievements in the classroom. She intends on majoring in Baking & Pastry and Business Management.
"Alonie's commitment to her academics and her work ethic makes her a perfect fit for our culture at JWU and with our JWU Women's Basketball Team," said Coach Raley-Ross. "I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Alonie and what she is going to bring to our Wildcat Family!
