CHARLOTTE, NC -- Parkland, FL native Emily Cashion has joined the Johnson & Wales Charlotte Women's Basketball Team, announced JWU Head Coach Ashley Raley-Ross. The guard graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where she played basketball and flag football. Cashion averaged 8.2 points per game for the MSD Eagles during the 2019-20 season, ranking her second on the team.
Emily is the daughter of Amy and John Cashion, and plans to major in Hotel and Resort Management. "I chose this campus because it is a small campus and they have a great hospitality program," expressed Cashion when asked why she chose Johnson & Wales. Cashion was the recipient of the Westglades Athletics MSD Scholarship in 2020, given annually to MSD seniors for their academic and athletic achievement. In addition to her athletic exploits, Cashion also excelled in the classroom, graduating with a 3.44 GPA.
"I am excited about Emily joining our University and Women's Basketball team. She will succeed in the classroom and on the court in our system," said Coach Raley-Ross. "Emily's passion for defense is going to be contagious on our team. I am thankful she chose to be a Wildcat!"
