Jackie Grant enters her first season as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team for the 2019-2020 season.
Grant joins the Lady Wildcats on the heels of completing a graduate program with the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center for Sport Leadership in Richmond, Virginia. While pursuing her graduate degree, Grant served as the graduate assistant for the VCU Student-Athlete Support Services office, where she administered academic counseling and support services for various athletic teams.
Prior to her move to Richmond, Grant worked for the University of Virginia Athletic Department as an Administrative Assistant to the Executive Assistant of Director of Athletics Carla Williams. In this role, Grant served as the primary and initial contact for the Athletic Director, Business office and 22 varsity sports teams. She created game and hotel contracts and was tasked with handling transportation and hotel accommodations for over 200 athletes.
A native of Charlottesville, Virginia, Grant graduated cum laude from the University of Virginia in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. During her time at the University, Grant remained an active member of her community working as both a youth basketball coach for the Charlottesville Parks and Recreation and a UVA Women’s Basketball manager. As a youth basketball coach, Grant led her team through an undefeated season, compiling a 14-0 record, and claiming a championship win. As a member of the Cavalier staff, Grant helped guide the Cavaliers to an overall record of 24-11 and a quarterfinal appearance in the WNIT during the 2011-12 season. As a manager, Grant documented player statistics, recorded practices and games, exchanged game film through Synergy, managed team equipment and assisted coaches in workouts, plays and drills.
Grant currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
