Banks Links Up With JWU Women's Golf

Charlotte, NC - JWU Golf Coach Chris Jones announced Essence Banks as the newest member of the Women's Golf Team. Banks is from The Bronx, NY and attended Hillside High School in Durham, NC before eventually graduating from Southern Durham High School. While competing in high school, Banks was a recipient of the Coach's Award.

"I chose JWU because I am defined by the chances I take," explained Banks on her selection of JWU. "Johnson & Wales is characterized by an abundance of fortunate chances and opportunities, so choosing JWU comes with a comforting feeling and hard proof that all the hard-work I carry out is a grand investment towards my success in the end."

Essence is the daughter of Iris Gonzalez and Warren Banks, and has one sibling, Khaleel Gonzalez. She plans to major in Business Administration, and already owns her own vegan hair and skin care company.

"I'm excited to announce Essence as the second addition the JWU-Charlotte Women's Golf program," said Coach Jones. "She not only brings golf experience to the team, but brings to this new program two years of experience as a JWU student."
