Cary, NC - Faced with a lengthy weather delay, the JWU Women's Soccer Team kept their focus and came away 1-0 victors over William Peace University.
The Wildcats outshot the Pacers (1-2-1) 16-9, but it wasn't until the 82nd minute that the only goal of the game was scored. Jazmin Featherstone was able to pick out Danielle Doyle for her third goal on the young season. It was Doyle's first game-winner this season after racking up 10 game-winning goals in the previous three seasons. It was Featherstone's first assist of the season, and it was certainly well timed for JWU (2-1). Kylie Priddy's five saves combined with a solid defensive team effort to secure the shut-out.
Head Coach Matt Hisler was happy with the total team performance. "William Peace is much improved. The team really impressed tonight. They played in a more connected fashion and were brave in making adjustments. Great team win."
JWU is back in action at home this Sunday, Sept. 9, at 12:00 pm. The Wildcats will take on Methodist at OrthoCarolina Sportsplex.
