Washington, DC - The Johnson & Wales University Women's Soccer Team set several records on their way to a 7-0 victory over NCAA opponent Trinity Washington University on Monday.
Danielle Doyle opened the scoring in the first minute of the game on an assist from Ashley Lunceford. Then, in the 9th minute, Doyle added another goal and assisted a third to Jaedan Smith. Nya Hill capped the first half scoring in the 43rd minute with her first career goal. Hill's goal came on another Doyle assist. The Wildcats (4-5) had a commanding 4-0 lead at the half.
The break did nothing to slow down #10 JWU, and they came out of halftime still firing. Ashley Allen got on the scoresheet two minutes into the second period, and a Smith assist to Lana Truese in the 76th minute made it 6-0. Then, in the 83rd minute, Truese found Doyle to complete her hat trick. The five different goal scorers for JWU was the most in a game in the history of the program.
Sarah Toler collected her first collegiate win in goal. She also helped the Wildcats earn the third road shutout of the season, a new record.
Head Coach Matt Hisler was happy with the performance, "Great energy from the team today. I was really impressed how committed they were to each other."
JWU is back in action on Wednesday, Oct 10, as they travel to Piedmont International for a 6:00 pm kickoff.
