Virginia Beach, VA – The JWU Women's Soccer team concluded their season with an emphatic 3-1 road victory against Regent University on Friday. This was the second win vs Regent this season for JWU.
The Wildcats jumped on the Royals (1-9) early as Jaedan Smith found Danielle Doyle for two early finishes. Regent would close the gap to 2-1 before Ashley Lunceford found Doyle to complete her hat trick. The Royals would earn a late penalty kick but they couldn't convert and JWU (6-10) finished the game comfortably from there.
Doyle's three goals brings her season total to 18, and 69 in 65 game career.
Head Coach Matt Hisler reflected on the game and season: "Happy the team was able to end on a positive note. The players have overcome a lot obstacles this season and have come out the other side stronger. I am excited about the young women we have here to build our program around. Lastly I would like to thank our seniors for their effort, commitment and sacrifice. It was an absolute pleasure to work with these amazing young women over the last four years. Lunceford, Allen, Abby, Dee and Kylie; we could not have asked for better people to take on this challenge of starting a program. Thank you for giving your all."
