Garner's Marting Kicks Off 2019 Women's Soccer Signing Class

Charlotte, NC - JWU Charlotte's Women's Soccer Coach Matt Hisler has announced Lauren Marting as the newest member of the 2019 recruiting class. Lauren played for Garner Magnet High School as well as North Carolina Football Club.

The daughter of Sam and Carol Marting, Lauren has served as the DECA president. The Garner, NC native will also graduate Summa Cum Laude and is an International Baccalaureate candidate. Lauren plans to major in Business Administration at JWU.

"I chose JWU Charlotte so that my family could come and watch me play. I was also impressed by how welcoming the team and JWU Charlotte faculty was," responded Lauren when asked why she chose Johnson & Wales. "I am really excited to join the team and find success on and off the field with my teammates."

"We are fortunate to add a young lady of Lauren's quality and intelligence.  She is an excellent organizing central defender.  Composed on the ball, she picks out smart passes under pressure, communicating what's available to the receiving player," commented Coach Hisler.  "Defensively, she is an ideal player. Lauren reads the game quickly, covers for teammates, and makes everyone's job easier.  Most importantly, Lauren understands the value of building up her teammates. She will be a great leader on and off the field for us."
