Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte Women's Soccer has added another local product in Waxhaw's Delaney Benito. She was a member of the Parkwood High School girls soccer program that made the NCHSAA playoffs each of her four years at the school, advancing as far as the state quarterfinals in 2017. She played club soccer for Waxhaw Soccer Club.
The daughter of Heather and Juan Benito, Delaney excelled in the classroom at Parkwood as well, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She was named a New Century Scholar, and was also a member of the Beta Club. She intends to pursue a degree in Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales. When asked why she chose JWU, Delaney spoke both about the school and the team, "I am passionate about Baking & Pastry Arts and I have a strong desire to be an entrepreneur in the near future. I am excited for the opportunity to play with such a talented group of female soccer players. This team has a warm and welcoming attitude! Go Wildcats!"
Head Coach Matt Hisler thinks Benito will be a great addition to the team in several key areas. "I am excited to have Delaney Benito join our women's soccer team. She will bring an impactful physical presence to our backline. Her angle of approach and smart, simple possession play will be great additions to our group. I expect Delaney to grow greatly as player this year, and be active building our team environment."
