Women's Soccer Falls To Cincinnati-Clermont

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer team was back on the pitch for the second time in less than 24 hours, this time facing off against defending USCAA Division II National Champion Cincinnati-Clermont. The Cougars looked very much the part in a 5-1 win over the Wildcats.

Clermont opened the scoring just two minutes into the game as Rachel Dorr fired a rocket past Wildcat goalkeeper Jah'Asia Pernell. Dorr would figure in the scoring of the Cougars second goal some four minutes later, as her cross found the feet of Ally Brown, who slotted it into the back of the net. The Cougars would add three additional goals over the next 28 minutes, building a 5-0 advantage. JWU finally got on the board as Jadean Smith used a nifty give and go with Lana Truese to fire a shot past goalkeeper Erin Hill.

The 5-1 halftime score would hold up for the remainder of the game, as the heat and humidity slowed the pace of the game considerably in the second half.

Cincinnati-Clermont improves to 2-0 on the season, while Johnson & Wales drops to 2-1-1.

Jaedan Smith's goal was her 7th of the season, currently tops in USCAA Divison II. Truese's assist is her 5th, which also leads the nation.

The Wildcats are next in action at home on Saturday, 9/14. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
