Women's Soccer Outlasted By Eagles

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer Team hosted Wake Tech Saturday night. Jaedan Smith's two goals for the Wildcats put her in front as the USCAA's leading scorer, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell 6-2.

JWU would score first when Lana Truese found Smith in the fifth minute. The Eagles would answer 12 minutes later, before adding three more to take the game into halftime 4-1.

Wake Tech tacked on two in the second half, including Griselda Jimenez completing her hat trick. Smith would again strike for the Wildcats (2-2-1) when she beat the keeper in the 62nd minute to take her total to 10 for the season.

"Disappointed for the team. We played an improved Wake Tech, but weren't ready to step up to the challenge," commented JWU Head Coach Matt Hisler. "We need to learn from our mistakes and raise our mental game."

JWU returns to action on September 20th as they play at Randolph College with a 4:00 kick off.
