Women's Soccer Falls In Battle of the Wildcats

Lynchburg, VA - The JWU Women's Soccer Team took on Randolph College on Friday, falling to the NCAA opponent 5-2.

Randolph would strike first when Sara Bane scored in the 11th minute. She would follow up with another five minutes later. Brook Ford would cap the first half scoring to give the Wildcats of Randolph a 3-0 advantage at the break. Sidney Keyes and Ella Randall would extend the lead for Randolph in the second half, but JWU would get two back late. The first came on a Jaedan Smith goal in the 85th minute assisted by Lana Truese. Then, three minutes later, Maira Teruel would be brought down in the box for a penalty. Truese stepped up and converted from the spot.

JWU goalkeeper Sarah Bartlett tallied five saves in the first start of her collegiate career. Smith's goal gives her 11 for the season, good for second in USCAA D2. Truese's assist keeps her as the national leader with 8 on the year.

The Wildcats move to 2-3-1 and will host Brevard for their next match on September 25th at 7:00 pm.
