Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer Team hosted Regent University on Wednesday. Decked out in pink socks to show support for breast cancer awareness, the Wildcats had a dominant 9-0 performance.

Emily Richard would open the scoring for the Wildcats in the fourth minute with Brooklyn Cathey doubling the lead ten minutes later. Jaedan Smith found Lana Truese in the 21st minute for a goal from the top of the box. In the 25th minute, Eboni Montague found Smith for her first goal of the game. Smith would then turn helper again, this time setting up Cathey's second goal. Cathey would complete her hat trick with a goal in the 35th minute to make it 6-0. Smith would again connect with Truese for Truese's 11th goal of the season before Cathey notched her fourth in the 42nd minute to send the game into halftime at 8-0. Smith would add a second half penalty to take her season total to 14 goals.

"I am excited for our women to get a nice reward after such a long break from games," remarked JWU Head Coach Matt Hisler. "Miss Cathey and Miss Montague provided a dangerous attacking presence in this match and we returned two key players that have been out for a while. It is important that we continue to develop our teamwork and mentality as we move to the later stages of the season."

JWU, ranked #3 in the latest USCAA D2 coaches poll, outshot the Royals 18-5, and Sarah Bartlett and Jah'Asia Pernell each added two saves for the Wildcats in the combined shutout.

The Wildcats move to 5-5-1 on the season and return to action when they host Piedmont International on October 19th at 3:00 pm for Family Weekend.
