CHARLOTTE, NC - JWU Women's Soccer Coach Matt Hisler has announced Katie Douglas as the second signing for the 2021 recruiting class. Hailing from Winchester, VA, Douglas is a four year varsity soccer player for Millbrook High School, where she led the team in assists during her sophomore season. The attacking midfielder/forward plays her club soccer for Blue Ridge United, where she was a member of the NCSL division champions in 2020 and finished as runner-up in the Capital Fall Classic in 2019.
"I am really excited to have Katie Douglas coming to play for us in the fall of 2021. She is an imposing attacking player that will bring a great deal of flexibility to our play, as we move into the final third. Katie has grown up with the game and has a real passion for it," commented Coach Hisler. "She will be an ideal teammate that will bring a genuine positivity and excitement to each training session. I am looking forward to working with this young lady and anticipate great growth in her game."
Katie is the daughter of Rob and Jenny Douglas and has one sibling, Darin. She intends to major in Baking and Pastry Arts. Katie is a 2 year National Honor Society Member and a DECA state competitor.
"The atmosphere of Charlotte was exactly what I was looking for in a school. As soon as I walked on campus, I felt like I was at home," said Douglas on her college selection. "Talking to Coach Matt and Coach Malika also helped my decision as they were so welcoming and excited to get to know me. When one of the coaches came all the way up to Virginia to watch me play, I knew they cared about me as much as I did them."
When asked what she was looking forward to the most about the Women's Soccer program, she responded, "I met some of the team on my first visit to the campus, and I am excited to meet the rest of them. I am excited to play with new teammates and make new friends."
