Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales University Charlotte is excited to announce Riley Oros as the newest signing for the 2019 Volleyball recruiting class. The Paw Paw, Illinois native is the fifth signing for Wildcats Head Coach Callie Phillips.
Riley plays setter and right side, and recently concluded a decorated prep career. The Paw Paw High School product earned MVP, Assist Leader, Little Ten All-Conference, and All-Area honors. Additionally, she also competes for Rockford Volleyball Club. While in high school, she also participated in softball her sophomore year and track and field her senior year. She pointed out Stephanie Crutcher, Jennifer Penman, and Jenny Oros as influential coaches along her path to Johnson & Wales.
The daughter of Jenny and Scott Oros, Riley plans to major in Baking and Pastry/Food Management at JWU. Academically she earned Honors distinction all four years, and was named Most Outstanding Senior at PPHS.
"When I visited Charlotte and the University's campus during spring break, I was finally given the chance to fall in love with my future home," reflected Riley on her decision. "Not only will I be studying what I love, but I also get to continue playing my favorite sport! Everything entailed within this university and the offers I've been presented with has made my decision rather easy to make: JWU was the school and Charlotte is the city for me. I can't wait to start this new journey with my new team!"
"Riley is a great fit for our team and our school. She provides depth at the setter position and gives us the opportunity to run multiple offenses," said Coach Phillips. "She also takes her studies seriously and will work hard in our Baking & Pastry program. I look forward to working with her and all of our freshmen."
