Scott’s Milestone Helps Wildcats Take Down Titans

Jamestown, NC - The JWU Volleyball Team took to the floor Tuesday evening against Guilford Tech. The Wildcats needed just three sets to dispatch the homestanding Titans in a match that saw senior Toniya Scott become just the second player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

The first set was a tight affair, with Johnson & Wales earning a 26-24 victory. After the close call, the Wildcats cruised in sets two and three, 25-10 and 25-7, respectively.

"GTCC came ready to play and put us back on our heels in the first set. We responded well and found our rhythm in the last two sets," said JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "We are looking forward to heading to Pennsylvania for the USCAA Tip-off Tournament."

Moana Reid led the Wildcats with 20 assists and 8 kills. Demya Scott paced JWU with 11 digs. Toniya Scott's 5 kills and 8.5 points pushed her career total to 1007.

The Wildcats move to 2-0 on the season and will head to Penn State University-Beaver for the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament. Their first match of the tournament will be August 30 vs PSU Beaver.
