Volleyball Advances At USCAA Tip-Off Tournament

Monaca, PA - The JWU Volleyball Team traveled to Penn State University- Beaver for the annual USCAA Tip-Off Tournament. On day one, the Wildcats collected victories over host PSU-Beaver and Christendom College, both 3-0 wins.

In the first match, the Wildcats jumped on PSU early with the 25-21 victory in set one. JWU would cruise to a 25-14 win in the second before claiming the match with the 25-22 third set win.

Toniya Scott, Demya Scott, and Taylor Walker each had 8 kills. Moana Reid paced the team with 31 assists. Lauren Godbee had 10 digs for the Wildcats.

The second match of the day saw JWU take on Christendom College in a rematch of the 2018 USCAA D2 Championship. It is a new year but the same result as the Wildcats secured the three set victory. JWU jumped on the Crusaders early with a 25-18 win, followed by a 25-15 set two. Set three was a closer contest, but the Wildcats sealed first place in Pool A with a 25-23 win. 

Iyana Favor led JWU with 9 kills, while Moana Reid added another 26 assists to her total. Reid also paced the Wildcats with 14 digs, followed by Demya Scott's 10.

The Wildcats move to 4-0 on the season will take on the winner of Pool B on Saturday, August 31st, with a 2:00 pm start.
