Wildcats Fall To Pfeiffer In Five Set Thriller

Misenheimer, NC - The JWU Volleyball team took on NCAA DIII opponent Pfeiffer University on Friday night. The Wildcats, ranked #2 in the latest USCAA D2 coaches poll, fell to 3-2 to the Falcons in a five set thriller.

The first set would set the tone for the entire match, with both teams battling in an evenly matched contest. The Wildcats would claim the first 25-23, but the Falcons would respond with a 25-13 second set win. The third was another intense set with JWU taking it 27-25. PU would again battle back as they claimed set four 25-17 to even it at two sets apiece. Both teams would leave it all on the court in the deciding fifth, with the Falcons emerging with the 15-13 win.

"Five-set matches mean you have some points you'd like back, but you did a lot right," said JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "We played hard and well and just came up short tonight. I'm proud of the things we did well, and we'll get better at the things we would have done differently."

The Wildcats move to 10-4 on the season return to the court on October 1st when they travel to Davidson County CC for a 7:00 pm match.
