Bluefield, WV - The JWU Volleyball Team traveled to Bluefield State for tri-match with hosts Bluefield State College and Alice Lloyd College. The Wildcats returned home with two 3-0 victories to extend their winning streak to four matches and claimed their sixth and seventh wins in the last eight matches.
In the first match, the Wildcats took down Alice Lloyd 25-22, 26-24, and 25-22. The Wildcats averaged 15 kills per set for the match, with Toniya Scott collecting 13 kills and Iyana Favor registering 11. Scott hit .333 for the match. Moana Reid led JWU with 36 assists and also had 11 digs. Emily Arends led the team with 16 digs followed by Riley Oros with 12.
JWU dominated the second match against as they took on Bluefield State, 25-15, 25-8, 25-15. Demya Scott led the Wildcats with 9 kills while hitting .471 and pacing the team with 8 digs. Iyana Favor and Isabelle LeMaster both hit .385 for the match. Moana Reid racked up 27 more assists to lead Johnson & Wales.
"Our team works so well together, and we've found a rotation that really suits us. Everyone plays a role on our team, and we've had several players really step up," reflected JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "This is a fun group to work with, and I'm glad their hard work is getting the results they have worked for."
The Wildcats are now 14-4 and next host Guilford Tech on October 8th for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
