Volleyball Falls In Four In Bob Jones Showdown

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Volleyball team hosted powerhouse Bob Jones University on Thursday. The contest matched the USCAA D2 #2 Wildcats versus the NCCAA D2 #1 Bruins. Despite being the first team to win a set against Bob Jones in a month, JWU fell 3-1 to the visitors.

Bob Jones took set one 25-22, but the Wildcats would level it at one set apiece with a 26-24 win in the second. The Bruins (24-3) would move back in front with a 25-7 win in the third, and finish off the Wildcats (18-7) with a 25-16 fourth set victory.

Toniya Scott led JWU with 10 kills, and Moana Reid led the team with 24 assists. Demya Scott paced the Wildcats with 22 digs followed by Reid with 17, Riley Oros with 12, and Toniya Scott with 10.

"Bob Jones is the best team on our schedule, and we play a difficult schedule for a reason," commented JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "We played hard against a quality opponent, and this will serve us well as we look toward the end of our regular season and postseason."

JWU will host Lenoir Community College on Saturday October 26th at 12:00 pm as they celebrate Senior Day and wrap up Dig Pink Week.
