JWU Volleyball Adds Transfer Hernandez to 2020 Class

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte Volleyball Coach Callie Phillips is pleased to announce Elisha Hernandez as the newest member of the 2020 recruiting class.

The 5'4" Setter/Outside Hitter is transferring to JWU after playing for Penn State Wilkes-Barre during the 2017-2018 season. She led PS Wilkes-Barre in assists, was third in blocks, and fourth on the team in kills, and earned PSUAC Player of the Week honors. Originally from Philadelphia, PA,  Hernandez represented Academy Park High School, where she earned Player of the Year in 2017 under Coach John Basile. She was also a member of the basketball team.

"I wanted to bring my passion for cooking. Initially, out of high school, I was pursuing an athletic training degree. I figured that there would be more of an opportunity in a culinary career, especially attending JWU," responded Hernandez when asked why she chose Johnson & Wales. "I can't wait to share and learn skills with the team. I am truly excited about joining the Wildcat FAMILY!"

Elisha is the daughter of Tanisha King and Anthony Hernandez and plans to major in Culinary Arts. She was an honor roll student all four years of high school.

"I'm so glad that Elisha has found her calling here at JWU Charlotte," remarked Coach Phillips. "She brings valuable USCAA experience, a team-first mentality, and a positive attitude to the program. We are happy to have Elisha on the team for 2020."
