Women's Cross Country Inks Laurinburg's Williams

CHARLOTTE, NC - Johnson & Wales Cross Country Coach Peter Brown announced Madison Williams as the first signing for the program's 2021 class. Williams comes to Charlotte from Laurinburg, NC, where she was a standout runner for Scotland County High School. A two-time state qualifier, she was named Sandhills Athletic All-Conference three years under Coach Greg Wrape. She also competed in track, swim, and softball.

"I am thrilled to announce the signing of Madison to our Women's cross country team. She will be an impact performer here at JWU while pursuing her passion for baking and pastry arts," commented Coach Brown. "She had an outstanding HS career where she excelled both in the classroom and on the cross country course."

Williams said that she chose Johnson & Wales for "its culinary program and baking and pastries."

Madison is the daughter of Alexis and Richard Williams, and plans to major in Baking & Pastry and is an A/B Honor Roll Student.

William's favorite quote is, "Pain is temporary, pride is forever."
