JWU Cross Country Lands Florida native Smith

CHARLOTTE, NC -- JWU Cross Country Coach Peter Brown announces Dylan Smith of Leesburg, FL as the newest member of the 2021 recruiting class. Smith is a three-year varsity letter winner at Tavares High School in Tavares, FL.  The Bulldogs qualified for Regionals twice during her time there. She is also a member of the track and field team.

"JWU has an amazing baking program, and when I found out that they started a cross country program, I was sold," replied Smith when asked why she chose Johnson & Wales. "I've run for 5 years and wondered if I could run in college, and I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me."

Dylan is the daughter of Bryan & Krysta Smith and Andrea MacLaughlin. The National Honors Society member and AP College Board Scholar Award recipient plans to major in Baking & Pastry Arts.

"I am excited to add Dylan to our growing women's cross country team," commented Coach Brown on the program's latest addition. "She brings experience to our young team and will be able to pursue her passion for baking and pastry while continuing her passion for running."
