Clermont, Fla - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte softball team lost a pair of games on Sunday at The Spring Games. Bluffton defeated the Wildcats 17-2 in the first game, while JWU lost to Clark 19-1 in the second game of the day.
Bluffton jumped on top with five runs in the top of the first in game one, but JWU scored twice in the bottom of the inning first on a
Laila Strawn sacrifice bunt, and then on a
Seven Hope RBI single. That was the only offense the Wildcats could muster, as Bluffton added twelve more runs over the next four innings.
Katie Murphy went 3-3 at the plate and pitched one inning, allowing two hits and one run.
JWU pushed across a run in the top of the first of game two against Clark, as Constance Hassell's double scored Murphy. That would be the only success the Wildcats would enjoy against Clark starting pitcher Brooke Buzzeo, who struck out five over five innings. Hassell and Murphy both had multi-hit games for JWU.
The Wildcats are next in action on Wednesday, March 4th when they take on Capital at 10:00am and then Saint Vincent at 2:30pm.
