Mission Statement
The Johnson & Wales University – Charlotte Campus Sports Medicine & Wellness Department will strive to provide the most efficient and effective interdisciplinary care available to help prevent and manage athletic related injuries or illnesses. Treatment of these conditions will be based on sound medical and rehabilitative principles considering personal and team goals and always delivered in a professional and ethical environment.
Vision Statement
The Sports Medicine and Wellness Department, in accordance with NCAA, USCAA and Johnson & Wales University policies, will help to advance the department's mission by providing up to date medical care to student-athletes and advocate a lifestyle that promotes overall health and well-being as well as athletic leadership and competitive desires. As a staff, we will strive to be the example for Sports Medicine departments within our conference by promoting professionalism, integrity, personal growth and innovation among ourselves and our colleagues.

Services Provided
Initial emergency care, initial injury evaluation, injury treatment/rehabilitation, and referral if necessary. These services may include,but are not limited to: soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic modalities, IASTM, dry needling, injury risk assessments and prevention programs, ImPACT concussion testing, and drug testing.
All services provided to the student-athletes will be done so under the direction of the Team Physician and under the supervision of an Athletic Trainer.
All treatments and physician appointments will be handled under the direction of the Sports Medicine and Wellness Department. Only the Team Physician and/or the Head Athletic Trainer may refer a student-athlete for outside treatment.
Hours of Operation – Wildcat Center Athletic Training Room
The training room hours are based on the needs of the student-athletes. In general, the training room is open prior to practice and closes following the end of the last practice/competition each day. The approximate hours depending on time of year are listed below.
Fall and Spring Semester

Monday-Thursday: approximately 9am-12:30pm and 2:30-6pm

Friday - Sunday: Based on team practice and competition schedules. See the staff athletic trainers to coordinate weekend treatment if you are not scheduled to practice or compete.
Summer (approx. mid-May to mid-August)

Monday – Thursday: 10am-2pm

Summer training hours are subject to change without prior notification. Should the athletic training room facility close,the athletic training staff will do their best to communicate schedule changes.

A schedule will be posted outside of the athletic training room and any changes will be communicated in a timely manner.
