Affiliated Media
Persons affiliated with a media organization are required to submit a credential form, but are subject to keep the rights to the content that they take at an event. This content is to be used in disseminating information to the public though a newspaper, magazine, website, or other mass communication publication. JWU Charlotte doesÂ
not require affiliated media members to share any content upon completion of an event.Â
Unaffiliated Media
Unaffiliated media is a person who is not working for a media outlet, and is working for the sole purpose of personal career advancement. Unaffiliated media members who wish to be credentialed must understand that any chance at being granted a credential means they are working as a volunteer, and is not subject to financial compensation.Â
All unaffiliated media members are asked to share their content with the JWU Charlotte Athletic Communications office within 48-hours following the completion of the event. Please send a downloadable link to a gallery to Chuck Charles (christopher.charles@jwu.edu).Â
Content Monetization
Photos taken at JWU Charlotte athletic events are not to be monetized at any time, per NCAA policy. This includes but not limited to, selling digital or print photo copies on a website, earning advertising revenue on social media platforms, and using photos for commercial advertising purposes.Â
Social Media Policy
Credentialed media members are allowed to share photos involving JWU Charlotte student-athletes and/or JWU Charlotte facilities on social media, but we ask that you tag or send an invitation to collaborate with @JWUAthleticsCLT on Instagram, X, and Facebook.Â
Photo Credit
Athletic Communications will provide proper credits on photos used in website recaps. Photos shared on social media are not monetized by JWU Charlotte Athletics, and credits will be applied on a case-to-case basis when possible.Â
Credentialing
Credentials must be worn at all times throughout a sporting event, and shall be provided upon entry to an event. Digital copies of a credential will not be permitted.Â
A media credential cannot be transferred from person to person.Â
Upon approval, credentials will be distributed to approved media members at arrival of the event.
Photography and Videotaping Policy
All photographers/videographers must be granted permission from the JWU Charlotte athletics communications office to photograph or videotape college athletic events from within restricted areas, specifically at field level, on sidelines, or courtside.
In general,Â
only professional photographers shooting for JWU Charlotte or the visiting school, or credentialed media members in a working capacity are permitted at field/floor level during the event. Photographers must adhere to all sideline regulations and are asked to be considerate of other photographers.Â
Friends, family or other photographers may be granted permission with the advance request to shoot from the field area on a case-by-case basis.

All photography and videography must comply with NCAA and Johnson & Wales University rules and policy.
Â
Per NCAA rules, images may not be sold for commercial purposes without gaining written consent from the JWU Charlotte Director of Athletics and by granting the college full use of all images captured. Images of student-athletes may not be used for commercial or advertising purposes.
Â
Photographers and/or media members shooting images within restricted areas are not to enter the bench area and asked not to shoot into the bench area from directly behind or in front of it. Please remain 10 yards away from the benches and/or midfield substitution areas at all times as to not interfere with the operation of the contest.

Photographers must remain a safe distance from the field/court boundaries so as to not interfere with players, referees, ball persons, or other event staff.
Â
Photographers are asked to not block the view of spectators. No grips or assistants are permitted at field/court level unless previously granted permission from the JWU Charlotte athletic department staff.
Â
Standard media "No Cheering" policies will be enforced for all photographers.
No flash photography is permitted in indoor facilities.
Â
ORTHOCAROLINA SPORTSPLEX:Â Above policies are in effect. Photographers must remain 4 yards back from boundary lines. Permissible shooting areas are the portions of the sideline areas not occupied by spectator seating or team benches, and along the back of each goal line.

WILDCAT CENTER GYM:Â Above policies are in effect. Photographers are restricted to shooting from the baseline areas. Please keep clear of team bench areas and scorers' table. Do not block the view of spectators in the bleachers. Stay back from baseline to not interfere with officials or competition. Flash photography is not permitted.
Â
BASEBALL and SOFTBALL VENUES:Â Above policies are in effect. Photographers are not permitted within the field of play and must not block the view of spectators in the bleachers. All others must shoot from the bullpen/sideline areas. Advance permission must be granted to capture images from sideline areas.

TENNIS VENUES:Â Above policies are in effect. Photographers are allowed to enter competition area only after seeking permission of the sports communications staff and/or coach. Great care must be taken to enter and exit the competition area during natural breaks in play, such as between sets, so not to cause distraction to the players. Photographers may shoot from the sideline of each court only. Baseline photography is not permitted.

The above regulations are in effect for all sporting events and may be modified for the purposes of NCAA or Coast-To-Coast Conference events.

VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE POLICIES DESCRIBED ABOVE IS GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL FROM THE VENUE AND/OR FUTURE ATHLETICS EVENTS.

ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS/MEDIA WORKING ON THE FIELD ASSUME ALL RISK FOR THEIR PERSONAL SAFETY AND ACKNOWLEDGE RISK OF INJURY FROM PLAYERS SPILLING OFF THE FIELD, BALLS, STICKS OR OTHER SPORTING EQUIPMENT THAT MAY LEAVE THE FIELD OF PLAY, OR ANY OTHER ROUTINE OPERATION OF A SPORTING EVENT.
