Malia King-Jones

Malia King-Jones is a dedicated coach, athlete, and mentor from Santa Cruz, California, currently residing in Charlotte, North Carolina. With a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, Fresno, Malia is also on track to receive her certification as a Sports Nutrition Coach. She is passionate about helping athletes enhance their skills in hitting, fielding, and mental toughness. Malia has gained valuable coaching experience at various levels, including with the Salinas Storm and Hoover High School, and has also worked alongside her father to launch a business offering private lessons and mentoring. Throughout her career, Malia has had a lasting impact on players like Carmella Muccilli and Sofie Seese, guiding them on their paths to play Division 1 softball.
Her professional journey has also led her to roles with Ripken Baseball and Softball Factory, where she has served as an instructor, coordinator, manager, and director of an exclusive recruiting program. Malia is currently in her first year as a collegiate coach at Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte, continuing her commitment to developing young athletes.
A former player herself, Malia was a four-year starter in high school, where she earned multiple accolades, including Player of the Year in 2016, All-State CIF Central Coast nominee in 2015, Two-Time MVP in 2015 and 2016, Nationally ranked in slugging percentage in 2016, 2016 All-County, and First Team All-League honors from 2013 to 2016. She also played briefly at West Valley College as a catcher and first baseman before a sciatic injury ended her playing career prematurely.
Malia’s dedication to helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field is evident in her extensive coaching experience and commitment to fostering mental and physical growth in young athletes.
