Robert Burns joined the JWU Charlotte baseball staff in August, 2025.
Burns comes to Charlotte from Southeastern Community College, where he served as head baseball coach as well as an academic advisor and an instructor in audio and video production technology since October, 2021. In his role as head baseball coach, he managed all aspects of the Rams' baseball program including recruiting, practice planning and execution, schedule development, and budget management. He helped more than 20 SCC baseball players matriculate to four year colleges and universities. The Rams earned the NJCAA Region X Sportsmanship Award under his leadership.Â
Prior to his time at SCC, Burns served as an off-site tournament director for The Ripken Experience. His duties there consisted of facility management, staff management, public address, and social media.Â
Burns was a standout pitcher at Chowan University. He earned Conference Carolinas All-Conference honors in 2020. He also was named to the Dean's List and Academic All-Conference Team in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Burns graduated from Chowan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management, minoring in Business Administration. He went on to obtain a Master of Science in Sports Management from Coastal Carolina University.
