The Johnson & Wales University Lady Wildcats lost tonight
against Davidson County Community College with a score of 0-3.
In the first set, JWU started off strong scoring the first 3
points. However, the Lady Storm matched the intensity scoring the
next 6 points. Davidson County Community College continued to
dominate the game, and was able to clam the first set 25-14.
The match continued into to the second set where the Lady Storm
scored the first 6 points. This run was lead by number 7, Kelsey
Templeton of the Lady Storm. Wildcats rallied back by scoring 6
straight. During this rally, the Wildcats were lead by Taylee
Tallechea who had great net play and Emily Kirchner and Daniela
Olivero who showed great defense. Even though, the Lady Wildcats
showed great net play and defense it was no match for the Lady
Storm who won the set 25-17.
A battle back and forth for points is how the third and final
set played out. The set started with Davidson scoring the first 3
points. However, JWU took the lead 5-3 from the help of Taylee
Tellechea and Emily Kirchner. The Lady Storm then tied the match at
9 all. With all cylinders firing, JWU tried their best to take the
lead however Davidson pulled away leading 15-11. Emily Kirchner
rallied the Lady Wildcats back to tie the score again at 20 all.
This would be the last time the Wildcats would have the lead. The
Lady Storm was then able to hold the Wildcats to only 2 more point
before taking the victory 25-22.
Daniela Olivero, Ally Schrenkel, Katelynn Roberto, and Shanna
Stewert lead serves for the Wildcats, at 100%. Taylee Tellechea had
10 kills for the match, adding to the Wildcats
statics.
Overall, the Wildcats season is coming to an end. The Volleyball
Team will host their last home game against Columbia College on
October 27, 2010. This game will start at 7p.m. at Carolina
Courts.
