Johnson & Wales University traveled to Salisbury, North Carolina on Saturday to take on the Blue Bears of Livingstone College in the first of two games for the day.
JWU would fall behind early in game one, due to poor serving. The Wildcats would respond quickly and keep it close throughout the rest of the game. However, the Blue Bears went on to win 26-24 in extra points.
The large lineup for the Blue Bears took control of the net in game two with excellent defense that included several blocks. They would put up an early lead, taking the game from the Wildcats 25-13.
JWU would respond in game three as the teams started this game evenly. JWU would go on a mid-game run, sparked by great play from Lauren Cordts both at the net and in her service game. Wildcats took game three 25-18.
The Wildcats continued their momentum into game four taking an early lead. The two teams would exchange runs later in the game that had them even at 16-16 and then again at 22-22. Livingstone College would then close out game four 25-22, taking the match 3 games to 1.
The Wildcats had a short break before getting back on the court to play Edward Waters College.
