JWU Fights Hard against Livingstone College

The Wildcats started the tri-match off on Saturday morning against their first opponent, the Blue Bears of Livingstone College.

Game one began with JWU taking an early lead, but defensive lapses soon followed. The Blue Bears opened a 6-point lead, which they maintained throughout the game. Although JWU fought hard, the Blue Bears took the win 25-19.

Improving their game with more aggression on the court, the Wildcats started off game two strong. There were several ties throughout the game, as the size of the Blue Bears became a problem. With several blocks over the net, Livingstone College defeated JWU in game two, 25-20.

The Wildcats went into game three fighting hard to turn the match around. Stephanie Harris played strong at the net and performed excellent service, giving JWU a 9-1 run. Determined to take the win, JWU retained their lead and finished the game strong defeating Livingstone College, 25-20.

The Wildcats began game four looking for a comeback and continued to play hard against Livingstone College. Soon after the start of the game, JWU fell behind due to poor communication errors, allowing the Blue Bears to take the lead. Fighting back, the Wildcats came together to take the win, 25-23, forcing a game five to be played.

Unfortunately in game five the Blue Bears took the early lead and the Wildcats were not able to come from behind. Livingstone College prevailed 15-7, winning the match three games to two.

Johnson & Wales will play their second tri-match game against Peace College at 2p.m.
