Wildcats Take on Sabers in Second Game of Season

The Johnson & Wales Wildcats traveled to Concord, NC to take on the Sabers of Barber Scotia College this evening in their second game of the season.

The Wildcats started out strong, jumping out to a 7-point lead, but the Sabers responded quickly by continuely going inside to tie the game. The Wildcats continued applying defensive pressure and opened up another strong lead led by the perimeter defense of Kareem Wilson, Hursel Forbes, and Shaquille White. The Sabers continued their inside game and kept the game close. At halftime, the Wildcats walked off the court with a 2-point lead behind a strong outside shooting performe by Bruce Lewis.

The Wildcats opened up hot in the second half with a 10-0 run sparked by Lewis' outside shooting once again. The Sabers then turned things around with a 21-0 run of their own. Johnson & Wales played them evenly throughout the game, but were not able to close the gap in order to regain the lead. Unfortunately, the Sabers took the game with a 68-55 win. When asked about the Wildcats' performance, head coach Dion Lansdale said, "In order to be successful we need to make the team stronger mentally and cut down on mistakes."
