Johnson & Wales University took on the Pride of Greensboro College. The Wildcats were unable to rise to the occasion, as the Pride took home the victory 111-71.
JWU came out strong defensively in the first half by locking down the Pride. After taking an early lead, the Wildcats lost their defensive momentum, allowing GC to tie the game. Wildcat offense would get going by excellent perimeter shooting from Sidney Mitchell and DaShaun Alston, as JWU regained the lead. JWU later found themselves in foul trouble, allowing their opponent to tie the game once again. The Pride would then increase defensive pressure with full court press to take command of the game. They would increase their lead with a 17-4 run behind good perimeter shooting and strong inside play.
As the Wildcats were unable to regroup, GC held onto their lead. Turnovers lead to the Wildcats being unable to close the gap, and the Pride went on to take the game 111-71.
The Wildcats will take on the Cougars of Averett University, Wednesday December 21st at 7pm in the JWU Student Center.
