The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University traveled to Denmark, SC on Tuesday evening to take on the Tigers of Voorhees College.
JWU entered Tuesday's contest still in search of their first victory of the season. During the first half of play, the Wildcats struggled on both the defensive and offensive end of the floor. Voorhees College went on to open up a solid lead on JWU, courtesy of a stellar shooting performance from the 3-point line. VC went 8 for 8 on their 3-point attempts during the first half.
With five minutes remaining in the first half, the Wildcats responded by going on a 15-0 run, trimming the Tigers lead to 15 points by the start of halftime.
When the second half began, the Wildcats looked to further trim the lead held by Voorhees College, but would be plagued by the same issues that affected them in the first half. JWU routinely trimmed the lead to between 12 and 14 points, but Voorhees would go on to defeat the Wildcats by a final score of 93-63.
Throughout the game the Wildcats received solid performances from Shaquille White and Sidney Mitchell, who recorded 11 and 12 points respectively. Mitchell also led with eight rebounds.
The Wildcats will travel to Bridgewater, VA to compete in the Bridgewater Invitational Tournament on December 9th and 10th.
