The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University took on the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday evening. The Wildcats entered Tuesday's contest looking to record their first victory of the 2010-2011 season.
Johnson & Wales University struggled during the opening minutes of the first half, while Belmont Abbey connected early and often throughout the half. The Crusaders were led in the first half by guard, Jay Council, who scored 11 points during the first period of play.
Belmont Abbey's numerous offensive schemes rattled the Wildcats throughout the contest, leading to numerous opportunities for the Crusaders to capitalize, and eventually gain a sizable half-time lead.
The second half proved to be more of a physical contest as each team came out and played an up tempo physical style of defense.
Johnson & Wales University also turned up the offensive production in the second half. The Wildcats were led by strong play from both of their guards Willie Perlotte and Rod Latimer, who recorded 20 and 10 points respectively.
Johnson & Wales University will take the floor again on Thursday, February 3rd, when they take on Randolph College. The Wildcats will be eager to take the floor as they will be looking to avenge an earlier season loss. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Grady Cole Center.
