On Saturday afternoon the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University looked to wrap-up their 2010-2011 season with a solid outing and record their first victory over the Yellow Jackets of Allen University.
The contest started off early as the lead toggled back and forth between each team for the majority of the first half. Allen University would record numerous baskets as they continually fed the post and were paced offensively by # 24, Chavis Barby.
JWU would rely on early offensive production throughout the first half from sophomore guard, Willie Perlotte.
Allen University would produce an early double-digit lead primarily behind their strong full court pressure defensive lead by guards Richard Johnson, and Anthony Gordon.
JWU would answer back with strong defensive play of their own on behalf on forwards Michael Daniel, and Nicholas TenEyck.
Both the Yellow Jackets, and the Wildcats would produce late first half runs, before the Yellow Jackets would open up a late 10 point lead from strong offensive play behind # 12, Demetrius Terrell.
The Wildcats would return from intermission and quickly cut into the lead sparked by an early offensive spurt by freshman forward, Shane Townsend.
However, Allen University would regain the momentum behind their strong full court pressure defense forcing JWU into numerous turnovers that led to easy baskets for Allen University.
Strong rebounding, and efficiently converting from the free throw line would plague the Wildcats and allow for Allen to pull away late and record the victory over JWU.
