The Lady Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University hit the road on Tuesday evening, as they traveled to Spartanburg Methodist College to take on the Lady Pioneers. JWU would be looking to rebound and put forth a solid effort as they lost their last match to Emmanuel College this past weekend.

Game one would begin with Spartanburg Methodist College producing an early lead by starting off strong with good net play. JWU would respond and draw closer mid-way through the game, but would later be hindered by poor defense. SMC would go on to win the first game 25-15.

The Lady Wildcats would lead throughout and benefit from strong efforts in the service game, net play, and defensive department from the whole team. Junior, Felicia Anderson would go on to add five of the first seven points to the JWU score. Freshman, Kaitlin Kuntz would add a spark for JWU as she provided a stellar service game. JWU would win game two by a score of 25-17.

JWU would display effective hitting during game three, but not enough to record the win as the Lady Pioneers would take game three by a score of 25-20.

Throughout game four there were four occasions when the score would be tied as each team was sparked by the great defensive play. SMC would eventually record the win, defeating JWU by a score of 26-24. SMC would go on to win the match three games to one.

During post game interviews Coach Phillips said, "Overall I'm happy with the way the girls played in games two, three, and four. We finally learned to put our blocks and our defense together and it showed in the way we played." As far as focusing in on specific players Coach Phillips stated that "Shanna Stewart played a great game, she was on fire with kills all night."

Johnson & Wales University continues there hectic schedule as they will get a short rest and then return to action this Thursday as they take on Meredith College.
