This past weekend the Lady Wildcats competed in the Johnson C. Smith University Volleyball Tournament. JWU tried their hardest to make it to the championship game, but fell short of the opportunity.

Match one would begin with the Lady Wildcats taking on the Broncos of Fayetteville State University. JWU started off with good communication and played their best defense of the tournament throughout this match. The Lady Wildcats encountered many serving errors that would allow Fayetteville State University to play strong and take the win. The first match ended 3-1.

After a short break from match one, the Lady Wildcats would look forward to match two for another chance at a win. Throughout this match, the game would go back and forth between JWU and the Tornados of Brevard College. In the middle of the match the Lady Wildcats would lose momentum from poor communication on the court. The Lady Wildcats would pick up the pace and began working together as a team, but it was too late. Brevard College would take the win 3-0.

Day two of the tournament would begin with match three for the Lady Wildcats. JWU would start with good net play and team work. Palm Beach Atlantic College and JWU would be playing point to point in the beginning of each game. JWU would then fall behind and the Sailfish would take the lead, due to JWU's poor communication. Palm Beach Atlantic College would go on to win the match 3-0.

When the tournament had ended for the Lady Wildcats, Coach Phillips looked for the best that had come out of the tournament. She said, "It was a weekend for the team to get to play against some great competition. I was very encouraged with how all of my freshmen played, particulary Lauren Cordts, throughout the whole tournament."

Come watch your Lady Wildcats play Davidson County Community College in the Student Center at 7:00pm. There will be fun and games all night long as we celebrate the grand opening of the Student Center.
