Storm Prevails Over Wildcats

Lexington, NC - In the second match of the season, the Lady Wildcats (0-2) traveled to Lexington, NC to take on the Storm of Davidson County Community College. JWU was unable to rise to the occasion, losing the match 3 games to 0.

Game one began evenly with each team scoring three quick points. DCCC went on a 4-1 run to take a 7-4 lead. The Lady Wildcats were able to use strong net play on both the offensive and defensive ends to take the lead from the Storm. JWU continued to hold their lead behind the strong serving and defensive play of Emily Kirchner. Late in the game several JWU errors allowed DCCC to surpass the Lady Wildcats, taking game one 25-23.

After a 5-5 start into game two, the Storm quickly took control at the net and went on a 5-0 run. JWU was able to improve their team defense, but could not cut into DCCC's lead. The Storm easily took game two 25-16.

The third game mimicked the start of games one and two. Unfortunately, JWU could not continue this early momentum. The Lady Wildcats played strong defensively and served well, but were not able to convert at the net. The Storm quickly took a 4-point lead and never looked back, taking game three 25-17.

The Lady Wildcats are next in action as they travel to Winston-Salem to take on the Conquerors of Piedmont International University on Thursday, August 30th. Match time is set for 7pm.
