Charlotte, NC - The Lady Wildcats (10-5, 5th in the USCAA Coaches Poll) played host this evening to the Storm of Davidson County Community College in their second and final match-up of the season. Unfortunately, DCCC outplayed JWU, taking the match 3 games to 1.

Both teams began game one with strong net play. The Storm controlled most of the early portion of the game, taking a 10-4 lead, before Coach Callie Phillips called a timeout to stop DCCC's run and refocus her team. JWU would go on to win 6 out of the next 8 points to get back into the game. That would not be enough for the lady Wildcats, as the Storm went on a run to close out the game, 25-18.

Game two started with a steady run of back and forth play between the two teams. JWU would eventually push their lead to as much as seven points at 17-10 behind strong front row play from Moriah Hughes, Kaitlin Kuntz, and Reanna Bray. DCCC clawed back into the game, eventually drawing to within a point at 24-23. After a second timeout, the Lady Wildcats finish game two 25-23, behind a powerful kill from Bray.

The Lady Wildcats were not able to continue their game two success, as the Storm went on a 7-0 run early in game three to break open a 4-4 tie. JWU tried to break DCCC's run, but the Storm's relentless pressure caused several JWU mistakes. Those mistakes led them to play harder both defensively and offensively, but they were unable to take the lead from the Storm. DCCC went on to take game four 25-19.

The Lady Wildcats used strong team play to take an early lead in game four, but DCCC kept applying pressure, forcing  JWU to fight hard to maintain the lead. The Storm was able to tie the game on multiple occasions in the latter portion, and eventually pulled ahead to win the game,  25-19.

The Lady Wildcats are next in action at home against Surry Community College on Tuesday, October 2nd. Match time is set for 6pm.
